Do you have a web admin? Or even someone who updates your website for you? For many authors, they say they do it themselves. Others don’t have websites at all. (Tip: You still need a website even in this day and age.) Having someone who updates their website for them, and I’m not talking about book or blogging updates, but rather keeping on top of changes in your content management system, updating security, and checking for threats, seems like something only “big name” people or companies should do.

Every author needs someone to manage their website for updates and security.

If this is an area in which you feel comfortable, you may manage this yourself, and that’s not a bad thing. There are many tools to help make this easier, as well as several published best practices lists. However, if you don’t feel comfortable doing this, then hiring someone is vital.
