Updates. They’re not something you think about, though WordPress has options to automatically update components of the program. For most of us, the updates are still done manually…and for too many authors with websites they’re not done at all.

There’s been recent posts about vulnerabilities that have been found and why it’s so important to make sure your website is updated. It doesn’t matter if you use WordPress or another program; your website must be updated.

The good news is that if you use My Author Home we’ll do those updates for you. Even for our hosted customers, we’d be happy to keep your website updated. It keeps you safe and happy, which makes us happy. 🙂

If you’re not sure how to update your WordPress, you can do so in a couple of ways. When you log in the admin bar at the top (the dark bar) will have a circle arrow icon with the number of updates available. Click on that and then follow the instructions to update.

Or, log into your admin panel (where you type in posts or upload images), and then go to Dashboard > Updates. That will take you to the same update screen where you can update your website.

Make it a habit that every time you log in you check for updates. Take a few moments to keep your site updated, or better yet, set it to happen automatically, and you’ll be protected in case another vulnerability is found.
